10 Quick Wellness Tips for Busy Lifestyles

inner vitality image1. MORNING TIP | Rise & Shine: Groggy in the morn? While in fetal position (or as you sit up) in bed, massage your feet or gently pull on your ears -- activating all those reflex points to get your systems running smoothly and give you a little get up and go. Try it on your kids too!
TIME INVESTMENT: 1 MINUTE

2. HYDRATION TIP | Perk Up: Be gentle on your adrenals and digestive system (that can get oh so stressed when we are) and drink a glass of fresh juice or water with lemon first thing in the morning. An excellent way to hydrate, wake up, and perk up the body naturally prior to the more jarring effects of coffee/caffeine.
TIME INVESTMENT: 2-3 MINUTES

3. SHOWER TIP | Multi-Task: The multi-tasker in you will love this one! When you have your daily shower, imagine the water washing away any worries or tension down off your body and into the drain. Feel yourself refreshed and renewed. A great way to fit in a daily meditation without spending extra time since you are showering anyways!
TIME INVESTMENT: 0 MINUTES

4. AURA TIP | Sweep Away: Imagine yourself in a bubble and begin to sweep the inside of it...clearing any areas where the energy isn't as smooth or light. This quick sweep of your energetic field can bring you extra protection and flow throughout the day. A yogi and shaman shared this one with me, describing it as more important than getting dressed!
TIME INVESTMENT: 1 MINUTE

5. OFFICE TIP | Zip Up: I love this tip from energy medicine healer Donna Eden. If feeling scattered, vulnerable or before an important meeting, motion your hands upwards (as if doing up a zipper) from your pelvis to bottom lip. This draws energy up the central meridian for enhanced clarity, focus, and confidence.
TIME INVESTMENT: 10 SECONDS

6. ENERGY TIP | Fuel Up: Try to eat a light protein snack every 2 hours. Choosing quality snacks (and fibre-rich low glycemic index carbohydrates) can fuel your body consistently, rather than the feeling of 'crashing' or 'hitting the wall' after consuming low quality carbs, caffeine and sugars. Put your daily rations in small containers so you can consume on the go; a little planning means we're less likely to choose unwisely in a pinch.
TIME INVESTMENT: 3 MINUTES+

7. WARMTH TIP | You Are What you Eat: If you're often chilled in the winter, top up on warm foods. Eliminate iced drinks and raw foods for a while, and keep your insides nurtured with hot beverages and cooked seasonal foods, including lots of root vegetables. Keep it up until you feel warm on the inside.
TIME INVESTMENT: 3 MINUTES TO BOIL THE KETTLE++

8. SLEEP TIP | Let Go: Problems falling asleep? Release the tensions of the day by lying down with your arms and legs spread comfortably. Then breathe in deeply, and exhale with a sigh; repeat several times. Notice any emotions that surface (this is good). Let go....
TIME INVESTMENT: 1-10 MINUTES

9. DREAM TIP | Marinate: Have the intention that your body lovingly repair itself as you sleep, and that you find divine solutions to life's opportunities/challenges as you dream. See if you can fall asleep with a smile on your lips, knowing you are safe and cared for.
TIME INVESTMENT: 2 MINUTES

10. JOY TIP | Happiness is Now: A wonderful mantra for life I recently read is to live with pleasure, not for pleasure...otherwise, life passes us by. Pause to celebrate every success. See how much pleasure you can bring into simple routine tasks. Stop racing and watch as your sense of vitality, connectedness, and joy expands.
